Reclaiming your Pet

The Moose Jaw Humane Society is the holding facility for stray animals found in the City of Moose Jaw, and the Rural Municipality of Moose Jaw, as well as many other surrounding communities. 

As the holding facility, the Humane Society is required to adhere to the local bylaws of each area, including required stray hold periods and the collection of fines.

Fees and Fines may differ depending on the area where the animal was found.

In addition to any fines incurred, the Moose Jaw Humane Society charges additional fees for housing your pet at our facility. Fees are as follows:

• A one day boarding fee of $40/animal
• Each additional day boarding fee of $20/animal
• A vaccination fee of $40/animal
• An optional microchip fee $30/animal

Before the Moose Jaw Humane Society can return your lost pet to you, you will be required to:

• Complete a walk through of our holding kennels, to identify your pet

• If your pet does not have a tattoo, microchip or license tag, you will be required to provide pictures, adoption papers or veterinarian records to confirm you are the owner of the animal

• Provide at least one piece of government issued identification for yourself

• Pay all fines and boarding fees associated with housing your pet

If someone will be reclaiming your pet, on your behalf, they must:

• Complete all of the above requirements
  
• Provide a letter of consent permitting them to reclaim your pet, on your behalf

If you do not reclaim your animal before the required holding period has expired, your pet will become property of the Moose Jaw Humane Society.
